  1. Easy as that. Shot. Meh, in the bin.
  2. Bring your Camelbak along. Don't worry about the status quo, start a revolution.
  3. Evening lads. What the hell do I do with this helmet sticker? Right on the front of the helmet, or would anywhere do? All these new things for this runner.
  4. Took my bike in for a much needed service yesterday. It made it nice and ready for the Argus. New cable set, everything nice, smooth and lekker. Good that I did. Today, on my daily commute from Glencairn to Muizenberg the inevitable happened in Fish Hoek. A truck yields for a car coming from left, because he needs the space to turn into that avenue. Lady doesn't see me and I pull my breaks full force. Bike does the classic front wheelie, and I land with my hand on the bonnet. That was close. Couldn't be arsed, kept smiling and set off to Caledonion Cycles in Muizenberg to thank them for tightening the brakes as well.
  5. Thank you for that. This is really motivating. I'm planning to pull off a full Iron Man before I turn 30. This won't be the year, but next year it is going to happen. I suppose I should just add a long ride and swimming to my routine. And some sleep. Rad, thanks. Keep your spirits high.
  6. What does your typical training for a full Iron Man look like?
  7. Someone once asked me how I get on the bike, or put my running shoes on every morning. I tell them: Eliminate all other options available. It's that simple.
  8. We will overcome.
  9. What I've learned, and learn every time again: Some liquid dripping out of the lunch container onto my clean clothes in my bag. Soup today. Hard learner.
  10. It's that time of the year where even more people are throwing bottles out of the car. Drinking, driving and moering a bottle. I can't wrap my mind around it. Had a puncture right past Fish Hoek, went to Regal Cycles. Got a new tube. Same day a puncture. Took it to Caledonion in Muiz. They patched it. On the way back home to Glencairn I didn't get past Kalk Bay. Another flat. Now the outer tyre is gone as well.
  11. Sorted. I am in the middle of a move, so my friends decided to sponsor my entry fee - now I need to wear a cycling kit will all their faces on it... :') Anyone any ideas for an affordable cycling kit printer? TIA.
  12. Just make sure you take the long way, via Marine Drive. I did the cycle lane on Koeberg Road the other day, but taking that lane twice a day, five times a week would equal play Russian roulette. I didn't feel lekker there.
  13. Like Cape Town Marathon being rerouted through your street. DON'T!
  14. Haha, thanks for this. You're clearly not a runner :')
  15. Cycling to school in The Netherlands in my teenage years it was a sport kicking each other of our bicycles. Let's go!
  16. I've learned that a lot of cyclists out there will say hi when I'm cycling, but won't when I'm running.
  17. This matured lady brings me to work a few times a week. An early millenium Allez Pro.
  18. What I find quite interesting is that some cyclists between Table View and Milnerton on Marine Drive find themselves too cool to use the cycle lane, so they use the road. Others find themselves too cool to use the road and use the bus lane. But why? Strava?
  19. Get well soon D-Mike. Hope you won't give up on commuting when you recover. What I've learnt is that some cyclists on Marine Drive are not just too cool to use the cycle lane, they are also too cool to use the road and use the bus lane instead. What's up with that. It's not the Giro.
  20. Rather a bit of extra weight than getting on my knees and patch the rubber before I even had a coffee. I may be Dutch, but my tyre patching skills still ain't much.
  21. Had first flat on second day of commuting and got a lift home from another commuter. On my way to the MyCiti stop someone pulled over and gave me ride to work. He normally also commutes. What a beautiful world. But what I've learnt is that devil thorns also puncture Gatorskins. I hear everyone about slime in the tube and a liner in the tyre. Should I? Do you? In The Netherlands we don't get thorns...
