  1. Hector Norris for all its lumps and bumps is still pretty fast mainly due to the altitiude, remember most of the records are done at sea level. Take nothing away from Gert, there is a reason why the previous record has stood for nearly 20 years. To stick another 2 kilometres on top of the previous SA record could stick this current record on the shelf for a long time. 47kph for an hour is incredibly fast.
  2. Pro vibe handlebars and stem pleeeeeease http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/pro-handlebar-vibe-7s-compact
  3. Sorry to hear. never nice to fall like that. Heal up soon Henk
  4. Anyone know how the guy is that fell in AL about 5 km from the start? I believe it was Henk Du Toit. I was on his wheel when he "what looked like" touched wheels with the oke in front of him and came a cropper. Speedy recovery to him.
  5. Thank you very much to Gerald and the rest of his team for a great job yesterday. Particular thanks to the bike marshals who literally stick their necks out to keep the bunches of lunatics on 4 wheels away from the lunatics on 2 wheels. Thanks guys see in November.
  6. So FB mumbling in the beards it is then...
  7. I find it strange that the folk on the Hub sit and mumble into their beards about the crap service at races then when someone actually tries to do something and get the cyclists to stand together they end up biting one another. I did D2D, experienced the same crap as everyone else has mentioned, and will not be going back for more. Whether the rest of you decide to let the organizers k!k in your hat so you can put it on you head and say " Thanks it fits much better now" and pay upward of R300 to do so is up to you. Fool me once....
  8. If only all "altercations" ended like that in SA. But alas.
  9. Hi PowerTap. I have been following this thread for the last few days and after looking at some of the other tests and reviews of the Powercal, I think that it would do just what I need it to for my training. I would fit into the recreational cyclist category and am not prepared to lay out the type of cash that is needed to buy a power meter. I ,like many other hubbers spend vast quantities of time on the IDT during the winter months, my turbo has a power output and I try to use it for testing to see if I have improved any. Whether or not it is entirely accurate is debateable. I generally only get out on the road on weekends and the powercal would provide me with some sort of power data to gauge my riding on the road. Again back on the trainer it would provide a nice comparison to the power the turbo is spitting out. If I could calibrate the trainer output to be something similar to that of the Powercal then when I get out onto the road I can gauge where I am. My thinking is that as long as the no's are going up whether or not they are accurate to other meters is irrelevent. And if its within a few % thats fine by me. Could you let us know when you think it will be released in SA? Thanks
  10. Hi I'm not sure about the ER24 band but I have ordered from http://www.iceid.co.za in the past for me and some other family members that ride and they work quite nicely. Order online so its pretty easy. Hope that helps ......It seems I am slowest typer of them all. At least its unanimous
  11. Shocking news.....I rode the ride for sight with Graham just yesterday morning.....As always he had a joke and then we parted ways at some stage during the race. So sorry to hear that cycling has lost a great character.

  13. From my rather limited experience the continental tempo tubbies are the best for racing. you can pump them to 13 bar and for an indoor surface they are great. The are Expensive tho. About 1000 bucks. The grand prix tubulars from the same manufacturerare also very good and maybe a bit more harder wearing but are a bit more expensive. For a cheaper alternative there is the Sprinter. I only know about continental as those seem to be the easiest to get from the bike shops. you can order from Chris Willemse.
  14. oats honey and whiskey. Now that will give you a good run for your money
