After measuring the tube, I see that a extender might be too short for my project, and dentists are dem expensive 😁 I think I'll go with the replacement of the steerer route. My lbs referred me to someone here in Worcester who will be able to do it with the correct machinery. And my neigbour suggested we do it one evening with a car jack and a draadtang - but I think it was the brandy talking...

I did order from them during the week and they state it's 58, but it's more a 61mm at the top for the double shot one.

The law is very strict about forced labour - so they are not in a position to make you work overtime, no matter what. I presume you are above the legal threshold for yearly income? Then it's difficult - believe me, I went the same route a few years back. just get an union and some hoohaa about going public with it - it worked for me!
