  2. Ah s%#tballs! My lbs has just replaced my xt casset with a sram equivilent! Haven't driven here yet so hope I don't have the same problem! Who is ur lbs?
  3. Hey Teardrop. Have the same problem, took my bike for a small service last week, they replaced my chain and within 1km my chaim was also slipping. Took it back to my lbs to sort out, its day 3 and still havent heard anything. Will let you know what they say about my bike
  4. Hey Iron, what upgrades have you made to your 96? How much does she weigh?
  5. Hey guys! Tool my bike for a service last week and when I picked her up I put her on the scale and was slightly shocked to see her weighing in at 13.2 kg's! Is she fat? She is a merida 96 3000d with 2 cages pedals and I had a spare tube taped to the seat post? Does anyone have any tips how I can put her on a diet that won't cost an arm and a leg?
  6. thanks guys, really appreciate all the advice. Bought myself the CS 300 with speed sensor and cadence for R1 999, so hopefully it helps with all the training!! GTforce, thanks for the advice about Maryke, sent her an email last night so hopefully I can go see her and she can sort me out
  7. Cool Thanks guys Do you know how much the data transmitter for the CS 300 costs? roughly?
  8. Hey Guys Im going to buy a heart rate monitor this weekend and I need help with the following 1) My choices are between the polar CS 300 of the FT60, I want to be able to loa the data onto my laptop and montior my performance etc. Can I do this with the CS 300? The reason that I have chosen these two options is that I play touch rugby and indoor football and also train at the gym so I cant use a unit that is fixed to my bike. 2) Does anyone have a good heart rate based training program that I can use? Ive seen guys metion it on the hub before? 3) Lastly what are the pros and cons of a heart rate based program? if any? Thanks
  9. Just dont forget which brake lever is for the front brake!! (aparently this is different on a mtb compared to a road bike) My mates old man has been a roadie for 20 or so years and we recently convinced him to buy a mtb. and for the first 3 rides on the spruit and northern farms he has gone arse over head on some down hills (although we did have a good laugh)
  10. Hey Guys I have a Merida 96 3000D, I want to upgrade to tubless tyres but have the following questions. 1) My LBS said that the DT Swiss rims are tubless ready - so just need convert etc, but, a guy at another bike shop said that the rims are not tubeless ready and that I need to buy new rims. The rims are DT Swiss X445 Disc. What do I do 2) If I convert which are the best tyres to use? Im currently using Schwalbe Rocket Rons Thanks
  11. Hey guys <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> My best mate took a massive tumble on Sunday at Northern farms (He was released from ICU on Monday night) He had a sweatsafe and the guys at the call centre were awesome. At final count, the cavalry that arrived included two ambulances and four paramedic response cars. All they guys that helped were awesome and it is reassuring to know that the guys at Netcare 911, ER 24 and the Life care response guys are well trained. Thanks to all the riders that stopped to help, especially the paramedic (Dude, I can?t remember your name but thanks) It also makes me think that we should carry some sort of first aid kit with us when we go on long rides in remote locations as we could have definitely used some basic supplies whilst waiting for the cavalry - even if it does add a bit of weight!!
  12. Hey guys Im looking to buy a heart rate monitor, bit, im a little confused. Im looking at the Polar one but dont know which is the best for me. I basically need one for when I cycle, run or play touch rugby and have a budget of between R1500 and R2000.
