  1. Hi all- have removed an older TUBULAR - meaning Glued-on - MTB tyre off of a 26'er Carbon Fibre rim - see pics - and obviously do not want to negatively affect the integrity of the CF, so keen to hear which SOLVENT I could use to remove the H-A-R-D glue? It will not roll off with rubbing with my thumb, like back in the old Triathlon days, - this glue has SET, and is VAS! (pic 1 shows old glue. pic 2 is of clean section. pic 3 is the new Tubulars i have for the rims. pic 4 is of the complete rim (i have front & rear...) thanks CHris
  2. I've found myself in a spot where I am able to import frames and bikes from mainland China at cheaper than normal shipping rates. I am a big activist for anti-fake bikes, so my willingness goes as far as to do only no name, unbranded carbon bikes and frames. The only brand names I will do is the Yoeleo wheel sets and registered trade companies like Yava bikes, BKR etc. Would anyone be interested in something like this? Shipping would be around R600 from there to here with a 5% charge on duty for complete bikes, 0% duty on frames and the normal RSA Vat charge. I will take a handling fee. I have done quite a bit of research on this topic and I can honestly not find any fault or dodgy manufacturing with the companies that I have dealt with RE the no name brand frames. I have personally ridden on some FM 206 and FM029's and they feel amazing. Go and look at some forums and youtube vids. Im still sceptical of riding a chinarello or a fake Trek, but just cause they take the piss of the companies doing the hard work. if you know you want to spend R40K+ on a bike, then I would advise going for the original... just a newbie looking for lightweight bike?... why not an unbranded one rather for half the price? Would anyone be interested?
  3. Hello all, I'm new to cycling, recently bitten by the bug. I Currently have a RC3000 roadbike but would like to get something more versatile, but not as limited (in terms of road usage) as a MBT. So I decided on a gravel bike. After some consideration I decided on the 20k range, and after more research I decided on this new bike brought out by Titan, the Switch : https://www.titanracingbikes.com/product/switch-elite/ The specs are very decent, as well as the weight (10.1 kilos for a large frame). But I have been warned about buying "cheap carbon" (and 22k is pretty cheap for a new carbon bike). Also, because of the new-ness of the bike I can't find anything in terms of reviews. So, I was wondering if there are any informed opinions around here, or perhaps someone who has bought the bike, or knows someone who has... Greetings from Potchefstroom (NWU student).
  4. My Ghost AMR broke this weekend, now I'm depressed. It's my Baby, and she keeps me sane, we have racked up literally thousands of clicks together. Anyway it busted right through the centre pin of the rear shock that it attached to the downpost of the frame. If anyone knows who can do this sort of Carbon Fiber repair and that doesn't charge the earth (I'm not a very well paid individual, hence why I only have one bike and cannot even upgrade) .... I would be most grateful. I am in the Midrand area.
