2008, Boyes drive was not included. I was quite fit, started in H and managed a 3:07. Winner did a 2:55. D's winning time was 2:54.

With Boyes in, I think under perfect conditions (like in 2008), you will be very lucky to sneak in under 3hrs.

The biggest variable is climactic conditions, Prozac.

Wind

And, of course, your run-up to the race:

Sleep, Nutrition and State of Mind.

And then:

Technical Issues or Incidents during the race.

3h10- 3h15 would be a good bet for D!

[i am in F]

But Mr Bender I thought we are riding a sub 3 from F

Hi, also D this year, No.14 for me and my limited experience tells me that Boyes Drive adds 15mins to the non-pro crowd because of the effort it takes and it normally catches up to you after Smits. You will notice that even the Boys in A struggled to achieve a Sub-3 the last 2 years. I think around 3H05-3H10 for D's leaders looks realistic. Just MHO.

Hi

I am also in D AND IT WILL NOT BE EASY TO BREAK CLOSE TO 3:H00!!

Once you hit the base of Suikerbossie and you still feel strong, then you will probably do a good time, but if you have not done it yet..be happy with 3:30 if you are lucky....Definitely not a walk in the park. Good luck anyway.

Safe riding :D

The biggest factor besides weather will be the vibe amongst the stronger riders in the group. If the core of the chaps doing the work understand there is strength in numbers and give all the chaps pulling an opportunity to recover properly as well as not hang anyone out there to dry pulling for longer than they should, then the time decreases quite quickly for everyone on the front bunch. Unfortunately you can get situations where a group of chaps from the same club or similar intend breaking the group early on one of the climbs so that they can battle for the winner of the group position rather than worry about the time. This changes the number of faster finishers significantly. You can't time trial a sub3 unless you do this for a living.

(Have started the Argus in D before. In J this year though)
