What about the angle this creates on the shocks. Can any damage to shocks ( coil or air ) occur if you hang your bike like this? Thinking oil inside, seals etc.

I was also concerned about the strain on the rim, but they recon that is nothing to worry about.

Shocks and forks and rims don't mind this type of treatment at all. There is no danger, damage or doubt about that.

However, A gadget that disables a door like that is stupid. Someone's gonna get hurt or burnt with that contraption. Rather find something similar, but that mounts to a wall.

Johan

I got the Pro Bike mounts that look exactly like that, rubber over the part that press against the rim.

And yes, it is nowhere near a door. eek.gif I put them up infront of my garage in between the cars.

Thanks for the heads up on not making a wrong purchase.

Is it a case of no answer is an answer ?

If the bike is made from yoghurt, you may have a problem, otherwise not.

However, there is one disclaimer. Latex-based sealant doesn't like heat and dries out very quickly at temperatures above 30 degrees or so. That tin roof is a frying pan. Continue to hang your bike there but next time you open your tyres, switch to glycol type sealant.

Just think of what you do to your wheels on any ride - I reckon they might just enjoy only having 10kg's of weight being supported by them! Just make sure the hook is padded and I can't see how you will have any problems. I bought 3 hooks off a hubber (Blackvoodoo) at a good price (think he or his company makes them) and they are working incredibly well.

Solomons in Woodmead sells some pretty good bike racks. I think the brand is "Bike Carrier" or something like that. Will post a pic later on. I just added some pipe insulation (so like foam with a hollow core) used to insulate aircon pipes etc. Available from the plumbing shop in the same complex as Solomons. I have my Superfly hanging from this. I got 4x 10mm plugs with hex heads to fasten them to the wall. No chance these badboys are coming out.
