M is about a 52. M/L a 55. L a 57.

Sloping or regular geometry?

Measured CTC or CTT?

It's near impossible to say what a L or XL is these days...

True, I have a XL Silwerback Space and some other frames in XL looks like farm gates next to my bike

The true test is the CTT (centre to top) measurement. This is the measurement from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube.

If the bike has sloping geometry then you use the virtual top tube - which is a line drawn horizontally backwards from where the top of the top tube joins the head tube.

This measurement method should be about constant for all bikes.

As always - have yourself measured when buying a bike and measure the bike - measurements in cm's will have you on the right bike. "Small" "Medium" and "Large" are seriously inaccurate ways of measuring bikes...
