Oh and if you don't deal with it, it doesn't go away, it slowly progresses and gets worse so that eventually the numbness & pins and needles are there all the time, even off the bike (this is where I ended up - was difficult to even hold a cup of coffee in my left hand). This can progress to permanent nerve damage, so get it sorted it out.

Had the same issue on my aluminium bike so I changed my hand positions constantly. The new carbon frame has not caused the issue, but I also got slightly better gloves. Even after the Argus my hands showed no Numbness, and before I could not go for more than 45 mins before my hands were numb

On my MTB I still have the problem, so I will look at a new stem, it makes sense. I put bar-end on my MTB to add some more hand positions

Sorry Stev0, I was working off the cellphone and the msg was getting extremely long, but I see the rest of the guys and gals have given you more than enough further information.

1. Check correct bike setup.

2. Gloves with pads at the bottom covering the fleshy part of the hand.

3. Additional tape on bar ends - I did this as well and works wonders. (Thanks tombeej)

4. Swapping hand positions. (Thanks tombeej)

These basic points should help you.

Who can set the bike up for me? Im sure I can fiddle with the handlebar height and change out stems, but it not like i know what im doing anyhow.

I ride with shift faction Mx gloves. The strike gloves are padded better though.

Its definitely from climbing these hills in the vineyards... I peddle my arse off!

What sort of tape? Insulation tape is the only one I know :P

I got my tape from Mr Price Sports. But any sports shop will do (Sportsmans Warehouse, etc.). I bought the tape you use for padding up the handles of tennis and squash rackets.
