  1. Ah perfect. Let me have a look and then get back to you. I am still trying to establish the period of time I would want to use it.
  2. Thanks I forgot to add location. Courier fees would be from abroad
  3. Hi everyone I am travelling down to my parents for some time to work from their place and its impossible for me to bring down my trainer. I will be based down in Cape Town (Northern Suburbs). I am therefore trying to establish where I am able to rent an indoor smart trainer for a month or two maximum (May and June). I know that its the cooler/winter months soon so everyone may or may not be using theirs. Whether it be a bike shop or an individual, I am willing to pay money to rent it. Thanks
  4. So here is some more information and feel free to ask me. I currently live in Amsterdam and must admit, the last tie I paid €135 was when they literally stripped my bike, had the carbon frame fixed and re-assembled with upgraded parts. As an example, last week I had a spoke replaced and my wheel trued (for my SA MTB) and it cost me €20. What I do find strange is that general bicycle maintenance services are of a lower standard, but that leaves space for you to figure it out for yourself (YouTube is great!). Every now and then you do get great service. There are PLENTY of bicycle shops, just not how we know them in SA. You will find at least one shop on every block in the city of Amsterdam, in the suburbs and smaller towns a lot less. These shops predominantly focus on servicing Dutch oma-fiets/bikes and not Road or MTB bikes, for that, there are fewer proper shops, even in the larger cities. Yes the Dutchies dont make make conversation and in general thats how they have always been, each to themselves. They dont make friends easily and are fairly clicky (similar to some SA towns too). But once they accept you, then they do a lof of effort with you. They sometimes dont do the effort with expats because they see us as temporary and thats why they dont invite you into their lives. Cant argue, I also hated leaving my good friends when I left and you can imagine having to go through it over and over. Join a club and you'll make loads of friends and people with the same interests. Just because the Dutch cycle everywhere, doesn't make them all cyclists. In SA most people who commute are also more serious riders. Jakkals, you left just as they abolished scooters from the cycle lanes in the city. They envisage full roll out of this law by 2020 throughout the Netherlands - THANK GOODNESS!
  5. I'm more specifically referring to other websites, like the Aliexpress etc. You cant compare Amazon to them. Amazon and anything else I buy in neighboring countries do actually arrive within a week as you have mentioned Any I once ordered a parcel from Germany to be delivered in SA - it took them 3 weeks to clear in Frankfurt
  6. Just to give you guys some insights I see on my side of the world (Netherlands). Recently there have been a number of news articles about the increase in online shopping and the enormous amount of infrastructure (man power) required to mange deliveries and check parcels at customs. Even 1st world countries are struggling with the demand for man power to get them to their purchasers. ------- Edited and added ------- The just of my message is not to say it's all doom and gloom. What I am trying to say is that e-commerce globally is on the rise (30% increase in EU last year) and as a result there is a lack in man power to clear items and get them to their owners. It's been better managed in other countries. If you recall, the SA Post Office implemented fees on releasing items due to the volume of orders they had started receiving. Hopefully they use that money to invest in infrastructure and man power to solve the problems.
  7. Anyone got some good suggestions on buying a carbon front fork for a 29er MTB and from whom? I have emailed Peter from xmcarbonspeed but havent had a response in a week.
  8. Have the Saffas on here moved on or still in the precinct?
  9. Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately in Cape Town. I have been added to a Whatsapp group that does regular open water swims in some of the dams close to where I stay. Drills are definitely included.
  10. IF you dont mind me asking another question, I would like to enter Xterra (contemplating full), but am not sure on the swim side which I feel a little uncomfortable with seeing it is a non-wetsuit event. Any tips or tricks you think I should consider for the swim?
  11. Thanks for the help - My suspicion is that we will join either MTD or Wingman for the 6 month structured plan. For now I am trying to work on my own plan which is Swim (Mon, Wed and Fri), Bike (Tue and Thurs and long Saturday and Run on some of the swim/bike days (alternate long bike with long run). But thanks again.
  12. Hi everyone Sorry to hijack this thread, but thought I may as well ask. I have a goal to participate in IM PE in 2019, giving myself nearly 18 months to prepare. I have only ever participated in one sprint triathlon (December 2017), however I am a cyclist and regularly do rides and races in excess of 120/130 km. I started attending swimming classes for stroke correction and strength training in November 2017 as well as running. I now frequently run 10km to 12km and my furthest to date is a 18km (planning on a 21km run end of Jan 2018. My questions are: What is the furthest I should run in training for the event (should I attempt a 42 or will regular 30 km runs do?Assuming open water swimming is the best, what distance should I aim for? Current training sessions are 2 to 2.5 km swimming sessions, however it is in a pool.I am training with a friend who has already completed 2 full IMs, but he is as tough as nails and can manage to get through an event like this easier than I could mentally. Regards Mark
  13. Mmm...seems odd. We had our kit manufactured by them and must admit, it really is one of the best fitting kits I had had. Have washed them plenty of times with no problems. Cost was also very good.
