So I usually use Avis but used Europcar for Argus because of their sponsorship of the Tour of SA (give them something back).

I was quoted R1606 for a Group B car for 4 days, 200km free per day, all-in.

Picked up the car and discovered it was a bit of a lemon when the doors wouldn't close properly, and the brakes were suspect.But I thought "what the hell, I'm not going to be doing much driving anyway".

Today I get my final invoice from them. R3033.45.

WTF!!!!

They charged me R2.65 ex vat extra for each of the total 349km I'd driven.

Airport surcharge extra R209.10

Damage Waiver (unrequested) extra R360

Theft Waiver (unrequested) extra R248

Tourism levy extra R19

Contract fee extra R50

What happened to my quotation of R1606?

Why don't they reply to any of my queries now.

BAD service......... never again.

I also used them this weekend. Hasnt seen any movement on my ct card yet except for the R2000 swipe when I collected. Monday afternoon on my return the person who helped me told me they are receiving 1300 cars on monday alone!!!

Cause they have your money. I'm having an equaly frustrating time with Telkom, no one returns any emails, phone calls if I could fax I would.

 

I fine with all these large companies, no one ever wants to take responsibilty and you can never speak to anyone in authority. Drives me nuts :angry:

I got my quote by going online, and filling out the details. They emailed me a reservation. I rang them (help-desk) and they then emailed me my quotation and confirmation.

Yeah Europe car sucks in my opinion as well, I used them over a weekend in November and got a car without an aircon, I hadnt taken it out the lot yet and went back to see whats up as my quote had specifically said the car had one..........gave me the run around about its all based on availibility and they have the right (see here Sir point number 3059.45.12 in the really tiny print on the back of your invoice)to adjust the cars accordingly.

 

Anyway, the long and short of it was I cancelled my car and walked to Hertz and got one there, two days later they debited my card with two days car hire.

 

Again phoned up and they said "its all here Sir point 2067.12.3a in the smaller print". Anyway after a lot of shouting and hollering between each other at the centre they reversed the charge, but yeah, they wont see me again.
