29pgc10 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 caad4, I am sure Hermida was riding HT and 96 Meridas last year.
The Worm Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 From the website... UCI pro-elite category riders are entitled to accept physical and technical assistance (including replacement bike parts/frame) from other riders, including non-UCI pro-elite category riders but excluding outcast riders. I think they can change the frame, but I think they have to show that the other frame is broken. I don't think they'll worry too much about the non UCI riders changing bikes depending on the stage. Last year, one of the guys broke his Volcan FS bike (he was involved with the MTN team and riding the race as well), and then finished the race using the Volcan hardtail frame of Kevin Evans.
29pgc10 Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 so the epic come and now is gone, the hand is still there (although with significantly reduced movability, but we are working on this), the pain is also gone (I was worrying about the descends, but the sand did by far more damage and the steep climbs were seriously painful). the hadida, as we have christened the mojo, slept in the van for all eight days while trusty 96 squeaked everyday towards the finish line. biggest challenge for me was the fitness level, as with exception of the Argus, I did not cycle since the accident, two months ago. that all said, thanks largely to my partner, we got together to Lourensford finish line. we are still friends and are planning some more riding together. Thanks again for all the advice and words of encouragement. the electric cows - or merida 3 the slow one has completed the 2011 epic! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo197/29pgc10/DSCF0985.jpg
Thinkbeeg Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Well done & thanks for the feedback, have been keeping an eye on this topic hoping you would let us know how it went.
Iwan Kemp Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 The 96 is a VERY race orientated bike. It was designed to ride like their race hard tails. It's a great bike, but very focused. The Mojo on the other hand is a 365 days of the year kind of bike. Light enough to race, but capable enough to throw down just about anything. Trail riding will be a lot more fun and the Ibis' DW-link is the best out there at the moment.
NotSoBigBen Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Well done Mart! Always a smile and a kind word/joke ...... made mine a bit easier
