Wedge Posted March 24, 2011 Share I'm rather new to the MTBing side of cycling, I started in January of this year. When I started I tipped the scales at 65kg. After three months in the saddle I've lost a fair amount of weight, I weigh 60kg now and on longer rides it feels like I'm running out of energy too fast, getting really hungry. I had a look at supplements, but its such an explosion of light and colours, I have no idea what to get. Can any of you recommend some supplements that I should consider - or - should I just stay away from supplements in the first place. Minion Posted March 24, 2011 Share Speak to a sports dietician (not nutritionist) to get some proper advice.

Velouria Posted March 24, 2011 Share Take real food - a sandwich, a banana, potatoes, fruit cake - whatever you prefer.
Guest agteros Posted March 24, 2011 Share Stay away as much as possible from "food" that you get in sachets, tins and bottles. This include 'supplements' too. They have nothing that real wholesome food chosen wisely cannot provide to you. Real food is also cheaper than tinned concoctions Use it, don't, it is your choice. Go see a registered dietician specialising in sports nutrition, but they'll steer you in the same direction (with more pointers maybe) than what I've said above
tombeej Posted March 24, 2011 Share Some nice articles here: http://hammernutrition.co.za/knowledge Also, here's a long thread you can read - lots of stuff there: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/69648-tried-32gi-that-stuff-rocks-big-time/ Yes, I know it's mostly about 32gi, but there's a lot of good stuff in between too. russ218 Posted April 7, 2011 Share A real dietician will do the talking. But as for my personal opinion, all you need is carbohydrate rich foods so that you'll have energy source and your body will have something to burn while biking.
