So, since its battery replacement service from Polar,my cadence and speed sensors are in good nick, and my "Check Wearlink" notice keeps popping up. 

I rinsed my strap and sensors thoroughly.

Any advice??

No, I do not want a Garmin as this Polar RS 8000 CX Pro is just about 18 months old...

Hi there,

Did you also have the battery tested/replaced in the HR Sensor? Mine also started giving me grief and by pure luck I was at Sportmans Warehouse and they said they would test my HR sensor and I found out the battery was flat, flat - they changed it there and then for me and it cost R60.00 and has been working fine since then. Thinking I need to have the polar watch battery replaced soon - how much of a mission is that as the sensor one was a breeze.

if all batteries ok - turn strap 180 degrees on your chest (elastic in front - transmitter on your back) it works!

Incidentally, mine also went completely FUBAR the other day. Seems it juuust held up for the jol around the mountain.

First suddenly HR's of 230-odds, then I looked down 2 days later, legging it up the mountain - to see HR values of lower zone 1, next day it was supplying HR values lower than my resting for when I was going uphill... Rinsed, now I went and got a new battery, so hoping to see some more normal values after that. Michelle, you can buy the battery anywhere and it's -mine, at least- user replaceable. Muuuch cheaper!

I had the same problem. Not picking up my heart rate at all Changed the battery on the chest strap still giving mr hassles. Then unclipped the sensor on the strap turned it around. Bobs your uncle working 100%. Wasn't aware that it had to be clipped on only one way.....

Ya. agree.

I have been using polars for around 10 years now. So probably battery in chest strap(receiver). I think it is a CR2025 or 2032. They cost around R12.00 at any chemist or photo shop. The hubbber who spent R60 at SW was shafted. They are completely user replaceable.

BTW if it is not the receiver battery the wearlink strap may be faulty. They only last about 2 years and cost around R250.00 to replace. If you replace the strap you do not need to replace the receiver as well.

good luck.

I hope you get your beat back.

bleak man, just as you get your watch back, the HR sensor goes....

On the same topic, my Garmin is picking up strange numbers - 2min 11secs into saturday's race, it picked up a HR of 230odd.... and I was cruising = very little effort. Edit: also happened on a light training ride (very light).

Battery? any one know?

Used to get that quite often with my previous HRM, until I got to advice to make sure the strap/sensor area is properly wet (not just moist). I then started to wet both the receiver area and my chest where the receivers contact skin. Since then, no recurrence of runaway heartbeats. After use, I rinse it under running water to get rid of the sweat on it. Been doin that with my polar also, no problems.

And every so often, put strap (minus receiver :D ) in an sock and wash with rest of cycling clothes. Keeps it nice and clean/old sweat free. REMEMBER, NO STASOFT TO BE USED WITH CYCLING CLOTHING.
