Today I rocked up for a local 70km race down here in East London, thinking that it wont be too bad a route as what I am used too. All seemed fine 5min before the race breefing when I noticed an unfimiliar Social rider, Reynard Butler of team DCM.

The race went out of Gonubie onto the N6 towards Queenstown, the turn a round was at Mclein Town and back to Gonubie via the old route.

My race went like this: Hard going out because of the hills and coming back was so fast, however to be with the break at the turn a round was nearly impossible. Leaving Gonubie onto the N2 all was still very munch intact, and then when the off ramp with a very steep ascent for the beacon bay came and finished, there was 8 of us left. We rode to the N6 turn off together and for a merely first 20km i got dropped with 5 other soldiers, due to pace setting by Reynard on the hills. This was truely a lesson learned that you shouldnt try and keep up if you are a solcial rider. 5km before the turn, Reynard was all alone and left the other 2 in the dust and went on too win the race by 4 or so minutes.

I was then left with two gumbo riders where attacks came from various angles after the other 2 where dropped, one got away and it went down to be a sprint finish for 5th, after i was doing all the pacing due to the rider had a teammate ahead, this race was so fun. i started the sprint from the front and was lucky too hang in there for that 5th.

Well riding with a pro in the peleton you can feel the nerves off all the other local top boys. So thank you DCM for lending us one of your top roadies too show us how its done.

Sincere and excuse my grammer and spelling.

I was just gonna start a thread called "Who the hell is Reynard Butler?"

So like a good little hubber, I searched first, and thought I'd tag on here.

I see Reynard Butler is riding for Marco Polo as a stagiaire at the moment. Seems like it's good to have another south african in the pro continental ranks.

Oh, ya, and that Chris Jennings finished 55th in the Tour of Burgos.

Well done, lads.

Excuse my ignorance but as far as I know Team DCM is no more?

Who gives a rat's arse? Did you read what was posted?

I just merely think it's awesome we have two lads flying the flag on the euro pro circuit.
