never happened to me, sure you are not accidentally hitting the dim lever on the battery pack?

get proper batteries or go and swop it

Will try other batteries, the switch can't be moved though.

Maybe the current is not regulated well enough ?

Interesting thread ... I am also considering the H7/H7R (I use MagicLight on the handlebar) but recently saw the BLACK DIAMOND Storm (new model) and it gives 100 lumens without a separate battery pack! It uses 4xAAA on the light unit itself, so it's much lighter than the H7 and more practical for (for e.g.) mounting on helmet. It's a small and very light (54g without batteries).

A mate of mine uses the Black DIamond Spot (75 lumens), and is very happy - done TBaviaans, Desert Dash and that's all he uses on his regular road/MTB night rides. Very bright, white light, from a 'midget' unit.

Would appreciate any comments/observations if someone else has had experience with the Black Diamond units and how they compare to the H7.

Not sure how the Black Diamond can be "much lighter", the H7 uses only 3xAAA batteries.

The H7R has 170 lumens and you can adjust the flood and brightness, can the BD do that? I havent used one so curios to know.

Are you talking about the LL headlamp (H7R) or the 220 lumen torch (M7)?

You also mention that the M7 cannot be mounted to the helmet, I have managed to do it with cable ties and the supplied belt clip. A bit heavy, but I have moved it more to the centre and now its 100%. With the M7 on the helmet and 1400 (claimed) lumen Magic shine, I have enough light. Will have to figure out a why to increase battery life though. Will not last for the TB, I don't think.

Neither, I was referring to the light Azonic was talking about.

I have the Ledlenzer M7 + H7R + Magicshine 808.

Ja I dont want to macguyver a torch on my helmet every time I go night riding and then remove it the next day when going out on the road. A dedicated headlamp works much easier. How do you adjust the angle of the where you want to shine the light once the torch is mounted on your helmet?

With the H7R you can still adjust how close or far ahead you want the light to shine.

Save up for and Magiclight it is worth it1

True, for a handlebar light it is the best value for money and pretty bright, but not the best headlight, see my post #26

You mean you can not adjust the brightness of your light?

Weird, I can mine! So is yours stuck on full power?

Perhaps that is a function the H7R has that the H7 doesnt.

Nope tank meant that as its mounted on the helmet you cant move the switch so it will be on full power when mounted.

If the light is not digitally regulated it will start to dim AFIK.

Used it for a night run, not bad but may get a Fenix hp10. Bit more powerfull and IPX8 rated. But dunno if it can go from spot to flood. Anyone ?

Is the H7 waterproofed ? doubt it i I look at hte battery pack cover.

H7 is not supposed to dim from what their site says.

Fenix hp10 however only gives turbo output for 3 minutes so that rules it out. 120 lumens thereafter is not enough.

H14 and H7 are IPX4.

Now I see the H14 dims to 190 lumens after a few minutes to avoid overheating but the H14R stays a constant 220lumens.

Can't be right ? Or does that mean if I use 2500mah AA's it will not dim, as their rechargeables are 2200mah and thus it only dims with alkalines ?

Also H7 is rated as 150 or 170 lumen, unsure what its actual output is, but I doubt the change to 190 lumens will be noticeable, especially for double the price and more weight. Though I went running with the H7 last night, bit bouncy but I guess the strap just needs more adjusting, top strap would be cool though to keep it from sliding down.

H14, I have one and it's a super light. Can be head or handlebar mounted + the battery pack is separate, so you can mount the light on your helmet and battery in back pocket.

aha thanks for that Ashchest, thought the cable would be too short. So it can go in a jersey pocket ?

That would mean less issues with helemt fitting/removal if I want to use it for running and I can mount the battery pack in my running belt as well so less bouncing

Any experience with it dimming ? Does it stay on 220 lumen or go down to 190 ?

A handlebar mount is included right ?

LIGHTS which I have tried.

Black Diamond, Spot & Icon.

LED lenser, M7 & H7R.

I am using the H14 at present. I got the 4 in 1 Box with Handle Bar mount. The light clips easily off the Head straps and onto a Helmet Peak with no ties needed, Battery pack can be mounted onto the helmet or with extension into your jersey pocket.

All are only semi water proof.

Have used all units in the Rain, dry them out with hair dryer.

The power goes down over time, I USE it on DIM for the first half of my ride and then put it back on full for remainder. Handlebar mount is only in the 4 in 1 box. The 3 in 1, Standard is just the light, headlight, belt mount and light. The light and the battery pack unit seperately comes moulded with its own CLIP for belts / helmets.

Thanks for the info but I'm confused. I understand it as follows :

You get the light head, headstrap and battery pack as standard. The strap has clips for the light and battery pack that can be attached elsewhere ie. your belt

Then there's a 2nd kit that also has a bike mount in addition to the above.

Ok but say I go trail running and remove the battery pack from the headband and want to put it in my pocket, is the cable long enough ?

Or do I need an extension cord ? Cna i buy this cord seperately or does it come in one of the kits ?

Thanks

WW.

I use an H7. But that's cause I use it for hiking and climbing, not just riding.

Thing is I went running with mine yesterday and the lack of a top strap means it tends to bounce and slide down, or it needs to be super tight which is irritating.

I'm big on trail running so would enjoy to be able to do it in the dark and the H14 seems better suited, its brighter and specially if I can put the battery pack on my waist, as I wear a Camelbak Delaney Race pack around my waist anyway so there is space for it.

Last night trail run I did was with my Fenix torch in hand, didnt work well.

Rather wanna mount that on my helmet and get a magic light for the bars

Yeah, I wear mine quite tight, not a problem for me, but I see how it could be. Trail running, night time and a hand held torch? You should youtube that ****

CORD extension is about 1M long. Light to Battery cord is just enough to fit around your Helmet.

Extension came with in my Kit 4 in 1 box.

A. Light Unit mounted with Clip & Battery Unit mounted with Clip.

B. Head straps and Brackets for Light & Battery.

C. Bicycle Mount.

D. Extension 1M long.

I bought instore from "DUE SOUTH" in March.

I may consider selling EXTENSION.
