Specialized Avatar Saddle

So I eventually decided to get a new saddle to replace my very, very uncomfortable Fizik Wingflex saddle on my road bike (I thought it was an arione).

I went for the Specialized Avatar Comp Gel Saddle. I did not think anything could be as uncomfortable as the Wingflex, but I was HORRIBLY wrong. I want to stab it and burn it. I last about 40min and that’s it, it becomes unbearable to sit on. The cause of my very unhappy 2011 Argus!

So now I need to sell this spiked slab of wood, and replace it with something more comfortable. The search continues!

I've got a slightly older model of the Avatar (using it for MTB), and I've never really found it to be super comfortable either. I've always thought it might be a setup issue, but after experimenting with different setups I still can't find a comfortable position.

 

I'm definitely going to be checking out a Fizik Gobi when I'm in the market for a new saddle.

Spend the bucks get the Toupe or the Ronin from Spez I have the Phenom on my MTB and the toupe on my road bike, they look uncofrtable but they are really comfortable saddles. I cant ride a Fizik I like a firm flat saddle

Go to a Spez dealer that does the demo program and ride one for a week then make the purchase.

I bought this at the Argus Expo from the specialized store. They recommended it. Will have a look at the 2 you mentioned. My MTB saddle is also specialized, cant remember what model, but it’s fantastic. Should just get one of those for the road bike! (Bright spark moment - D'OH!)

Yup, that's an Arione. The Wing Flex technology was used in a number of the saddles. How it worked was for the "wings" that your thighs come into contact with would flex with your pedal stroke.
