Ok so 1sr ride on 2.7 seemed fine for the most part. Cadence sensor is broken and dont have a power meter so cant test that.

HOWEVER : I hit a high of 253 bpm near the start of the ride, which is impossible AFAIK. I've nerver gone that high, max about 200 when I'm unfit, 190 if Im fit and gunning it at max effort.

Rode my normal route so I know theres not interference. Im not fit right now but really I wasnt putting in any effort, I mean Phillip Buys is about my age and he recently hit about 220 on a XC start, but I was cruising so this must be wrong ? Opinons

HR Strap clean? New/wet clothing / static electricity?

Not sure if anyone else is facing this problem. After the update and setting the recording to 1 sec, my activity uploads to Garmin Connect, but it does not update anymore to Garmin training centre

When updating to Garmin training centre, it does all the updates, shows in the activity, then closes the program. When re-opened, its just my old activities showing.

Any suggestions?

I just bough the Edge 500 about a month and a half ago. Now could any one please tell me if I should be uploading the new software or not? or would it already have it on? and how would I be able to tell What software I have already? are there really any advantages of uploading the new software? I mean is it worth doing if you going to be having problems with it afterward? Sorry for all the questions.

Great time to learn more about your unit Big C.

Switch your unit on and go to Menu > Settings > About Edge

That will give you the Version currently installed on your unit. You might have 2.4 or 2.6 on there currently.

I am currently using 2.6 and will wait another month or so before upgrading to 2.7 even though I am really keen to test the 1second recording. Over the years I have become weary of doing the upgrades as soon as they are released. A couple of bugs normally gets reported and fixed within the first month of release. Just wait a while and you wont have any issues on your unit.

If you want 2.6 let me know I have it on my pc.

Thanks for your reply Tankman. I currently have Software version 2.50 and GPS 2.40. If I upload 2.60 what will I be gaining and if I do want to upload 2.60 how do I go about doing this?

Yea I have a suggestion, use any other program other than Training Center. I can seriously not think of one reason why you should use that program. Try SportTracks much more user friendly, loads of plugins, detailed and customizable reports that will keep you busy for a while. Is there anything in TC you can customize other than start day of the week, which took them over 5 years to give you that option.

And yes you can roll back to version 2.6, from garmin forums:

"Normally, you should copy the gupdate.gcd file from your 500 to somewhere on your computer, possibly renaming it so that you know what version it is. In the event you need to rollback, you simply drop it into the Garmin folder on the 500, making sure to name it gupdate.gcd. Then power up the 500.

Anyway, the recent firmware updates seem to remove the gupdate.gcd file from the Garmin folder when you first turn on the unit and let the update proceed. So, what you should now do is as soon as you use the Web Updater to update your unit, before you unplug it from the USB cable, you should go to the 500's Garmin folder and copy the gupdate.gcd file. Then you can finish the process following the normal procedure.

====

How do you get old firmware versions, you might ask yourself?

Simply use the following link, but replace the xxx with the version you want. So, if you want 2.30 then xxx = 230; if you want 2.40 then xxx = 240 (note, no period).

Code:

http://www.garmin.com/software/Edge500_xxx.gcd

So copy the link and replace the xxx with the version you want."

Doesnt really surprise me, I have a version of TC that is not listed on the websites either.

There were a couple of minor updates from 2.4 to 2.6 ... nothing that you will really notice if you only started using the unit a while ago.

Here is Version 2.60
