The Vlei Cycle park update.

THABA TRAILS

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys and galls, just a quick update on our trails. As some of you may have experienced we have two new steel bridges donated by Eastrand Hydraulics. The value was amplified when MTB007 was casavaced from the trail with a brocken leg...hope you are mending quick. We have changed the "Japanese Garden and Clinic"...we may rename it. One can now enjoy this 2km addition which has been classified as green but will wait to hear more opinions before we finally mark it. Nice drop offs and exciting single track.Come and enjoy. We intend using this as a night race route this winter.

HI there

Yeah the Japenese Garden is alot better for everyone to ride now. Alot more soft spots to pick your landing.

Took my girlfriend through there. She could ride it all and had some fun with the ups and downs. Got the adrenilin going.

However on the other side where the bridges are it was very slippery and alot was not save for riding. But that will be better dry

Had a bit of problems with marking. Not always sure where to turn next and ended up doing the same part a couple of times.

Thank you for the awesome facility

Kind Regards

Andre

Hi Wendel and co.

Thanks for the new additions and changes; always good to ride a fresh route. Still a bit tricky in some areas of the old Japanese Garden, but much less technical than the original. I rode the green route on Wednesday, and could not find any place that was inherently unsafe, given a modicum of bike handling skills. I brought my wife along, who has not been on a mountain bike for about 18 years. At times she walked. No problem!

Thanks again

Gilbert

Had the opportunity to ride with some friends on Wednesday and did the new section for the second time, I still had to walk one or 2 of the steep sections due to the previous evening's rain but on the whole we had an awesome morning.

The new section has definitely added a new "twist" to that side of the park, thank you very much for all the effort that went into setting it up, :-)

I have probably ridden more laps of the Rietvlei course in it's various forms (even before Cyclehub was there) than most people but I must say that the current course as it has been changed in the few weeks since I last rode it before Epic is absolutely awesome

The new bridges are clearly built to last although maybe not as 'exciting' to ride as the old wooden ones, the return of the Japanese garden (I haven't ridden it since I cracked 3 ribs there more than a year ago) and how it has been improved just blew me away :o - the new blue sections were great, I'll have to do a bit of work on my skills to 'flow' through there but looking forward to it :)

1 or 2 blue sections I missed out today but hey I'll be out there lots next week :D

It seems that I may one of the very few that ride up Wendells revenge passed the rondawels and down the pool downhill, don't people like it

GOOD JOB Wendell and co

Thanks Bennie, it sure makes it worthwhile when we get these types of comments. It just frustrates me that you still get people who ignore signs, break down obvious barriers resulting in them riding in oposite direction to the flow....but, hey Thanks Man, and my hat off to you and Daniel for your result in the Epic...huge respect Bro.

GOOD JOB Wendell and co
