I also went to MTN bike park this time this week. Ive been riding for 13 weeks now. I was GLAD that I had some experience as I thought that it was not for raw beginners. I did all the green tracks, first time nervous and then did them all twice more until I felt confidant that I could do it. Then I tried blue zombie and my confidance levels fell - like me - a lot.

But before you moan about MTN go to Teak or Groenkloof - which are quite technical I thought - and opportunities to get hurt is there every on every corner.

In conclusion: Green is not for beginners, get some experierence first

MTB creates loads of opportunities to moer of

Expererience riders dont know what you or I are talking about - so boet - like me - suck it up

The key is to ride within your own abilities, and to expand those abilities in small steps as your confidence increase.

Working on your technical skills is a constant journey without a destination and there will always be room for improvement. Crashes are part of our sport and it happens to the best in the sport.

Enjoy your journey!!!!!

It's not comparable really. Apples, oranges...You are talking about a forest; this is a purpose-built park in an suburban setting. Both provide thrills. Both provide technical bits. In different ways. Give us a shout when you're here.

You have 7 months to get in some good training...

By the time you get here - all the trails should be rideable!

Also from watching footage of Tokai (Epic) - doesnt compare @ all to the bike park...

You may actually be disapointed - but some of the technical stuff is great!!

Come without expectations and enjoy your ride!

You should be fine with nearly all of the trails. Some of the black routes may tax your skills a wee bit, but I reckon you'll be good to go.

Look just to clear some confusion I fell from the top of the wooden bridge and not coming up it...

I have been to Mankele this weekend for 3 days of riding, and I fell... and I fell alot... and guess what? I did not land on barb wire!!

All I'm saying is that they should move the barb wire fencing further away from obstacles or change it to normal fencing....

I did suck it up, stitches are coming out wednesday. My journey has begun and experiance I have gained, from much much better riders then myself

Mankele is a different beast. The Cycle Park is in an urban area, hence the need for barb wire.

How exactly did you fall off the top? Lack of momentum?

Healthier than a sack of potatoes! Was it wet? You'll always struggle to find purchase on either the wood or the mesh after it's been raining.

The best way to do that bridge is to hit it on the left at speed, pull your front wheel up and over the gap then pedal to the top. Don't change your line when you're on it.

lol  the bridge was dry but the plastic mesh was and my tires from the river I crossed 30sec ago.... fair enough, lesson learnt....

Haha! Good one! I had some close calls on Sunday. School of hard knocks and all that!

Speed is everything when it comes to the bike park.

Once you have that dailed in you can simply flow through courses such as drop off and zombie birdhouse.

If you get a chance speed check Dino or James I highly recommend it.

Patches can help you on the jump track.
