Gotta put another one in for the Monorail/Crossmark combo. Really high rolling and although they more for hard pack, with the mono on from they do just fine in mud! And prob best value for money at the moment...

Ok, same ones I ride with on my hardtail. The 2011 protection should be even better. :)

are these the 2011 ones on the website? Caerus you also had no problem riding with these instead of race king ust option?

Dont think they are the latest , they are just simply Race King Protection. I see the are 550grams , just been on the conti site

Iron man shot for all the info mate, one thing though if these weigh 580g as oer your link surely its basically the same thing as fitting the real race king ust of 700g is it? Thats only 240g extra for two full ust tyres?

Then again these at 580g are alot heavier then your normal with tubes tyre so is it safe to say they hold like 3 quarter the protection as a ust tyre does?

Shot man!!

Specialized 2Bliss Controlls. You won't look back. Unless you have fallen down and you are infront of the bike!!

haha shot for the input top fuel - but as my original question are these proper tubeless tyres like proper tubeless protection against flats? Cause they are alot lighter then your average UST tyre are they not? You obviously have never had a problem with these?

No, you cant seem to get the new ones yet. No probs riding with them at all, I do also ride UST versions on my softtail(rear tyre) and Kenda Excavator on the front(non-UST), but once that tyre has worn out I will change to NON - UST

Very nice tyres.

The problem with non UST tyres is that you can't run as low a pressure as you would like without the risk of the tyre burping air past the bead. These tyres have UST beads so it seats properly on a UST rim.

The sidewalls are not as thick as UST tyres though to save weight. So if you are doing terrain with sharp rocks you chances of a sidewall cut are bigger than with a Maxxis LUST tyre.

If you are not riding karoo rocks they make perfect sense and the Captain has good grip, perfect for a front tyre.

Is there that much saving though in the non ust at 580g compared to the ust of 700g? And do you run same pressures as you would run in ust tyre?

You do notice it over the two tyres(weight), remember its rolling weight. I run them pretty much the same pressures, slightly lower on the UST versions.

What type of bike do you ride and the travel on the bike.

Are you a fair weather rider or will you ride in any conditions.

Name your preference

  • Speed, pure speed
  • Grips, pure grip
  • Good All Rounder

Mostly a fair weather rider, stay away from the muddy stuff when i can help it.

Pref just a good all rounder really, ride a focus dual suspension

GEAX!!

Saguaro front, AKA back. love mine!!

How does the AKA hold up in the wet ... I ask this as I am currently looking at a 2.2' Saguaro TNT front and back with the option of getting the AKA as a fast rolling tyre when things dry out in summer.

Also how well does the tyre wear overall?
