It is not the cost that bothers me, they have no competition, no one that can possibly do a better job or keep them on their toes. No one else offers a seeding system.

If we had a national seeding system, we could cut out middle men and we would not need to drive to moerlandspan to collect a stupid number the day before a race.

Clubs are able and very capable of organizing events ... look at ROAG or the Tour De Boland guys ... their events run pretty gooood!

I do agree here, A national seeding system would cut out the middle man and solve the problems with travelers wanting to do racing. Whether or not they will do a good job is another debate.

ookay thanks

see you had a nice ride

Ja I did thanks, never ridden out that way. Awesome ride, great scenery and that last 15km coming down the mountain was a blast! Didnt expect to be overtaking the so called faster ... err ... 29ers on this section though  Oh and we were a lekka bunch that traveled there together!

When you joining us for a night ride again?

Dear Barend

Thanks for your query.

As the event is a PPA funride, only the results for paid-up PPA members are displayed on our website and timed by Racetec as PPA pays for the timing of the event. This is a benefit that PPA offers to our members.

If you are not a PPA member you need to purchase a back number in order to start in the start groups at the event.

Trust this answers your query.

Kind Regards

Exactly my point!

I have been cycling since end of February (after 15 year of not touching a bicycle and then it was to cycle around the neighborhood). If I compare my time to the ladies on the list I ended up 6th and I don't want to fool myself in thinking that. Maybe it was where I ended and then you would ask “why complain in the 1st place”.

@ L2climb – I ask questions everyday, but knowing and doing are 2 different things!!

@ Big Til – as I only started 3 months ago I set a goal of ending in the top 5 ladies in my age group in 3 consecutive races in the ‘shorter rides’ (35km – 50km) and then going for the longer ones. One has to start some where I think.

@ MTB_Roadie – I seriously planned to join PPA (their year runs from July to June as far as I can remember) thus the delay in me joining, but now as mentioned above by Topwine…what is the use if I will only be ‘competing’ against PPA members, who as we know if looking at the numbers on the results were not even half of the final numbers.)

@ Helloise – I advertised the event between my friends afterwards as I thought even due to the few bad point is has the potential to be an great event – to have their 1000 entries as they want next year….just a few point to work on I think!

Thanks for the feedback! I learn each day. :)

Uhm....well they are the people involved in the racing.....so yes you will be competing against them...thats how you get a better seeding when becoming faster also you can keep track of your records....so other than that...if there is no time black on white then you did not race...also you will just be another entry....and you will enter the Argus starting in OP cause you are a non-PPA member...do you want that? No you don't because the time we finish you only start....

Who's going through for this event on the weekend? Looking forward to it, just hoping not to have any puncture issues as mentioned about this event last year.

MTB rookie, I will be doing my second race... doing the 15km route.

I have no idea what to expect on this route

I am planning to try this race - the first since getting my hip pinned together with Titanium - have been doing some training but the one leg is not yet fully back to full muscle tone.

Do you guys think the 55 is doable for the not 100% fit or better to start on the lesser of two evils.?

I have been doing up to 35 km's road/mountain with no problems, but I figure this one might be a bit tough.

CapeLandy,

Last year's 35km route was mostly farmroads, with a short bit of single track and some rocky sections along a railwayline.

Not very technical at all, but some steep climbs up the hills.

The 55 does an extra loop somewhere compared to the 35,so you shouldn't have a problem.

sjoe, dit was darem toe nie so koud gister nie en ek het darem klaargemaak! lol

1. Kan iemand my se hoelaat PPA opgepak het dus die matte opgerol het en ophou tyd vat?

2. My start tyd was 8:41:06 die cut off was 12h30, so ek kry die idee hulle vat die start tyd van waneer die PPA members wegspring en nie waneer die laaste mense wegspring nie(ons met die temporary numbers)?

I heard from someone that the hills were really tough on the 55 so I held back until the last 15km when I realised that it looked all downhill from there. Did an embarrassing 3h20 ish but plenty fuel still in the tank. Was a very scenic ride
