Help! Confused

As my friends will attest, I am the easiest person to sell anything to! I just cannot resist a sales pitch. Now I will be riding a 2008 Gary Fisher dual-suspension mtb at the cycle fair in Modderfontein on Sunday.

Now my problem is this, chances are good that if I ride it I will be halfway sold! My present mtb is a hardtail Avalanche Reflex which is, as I understand it, as entry level as you can get. So as you can see I am very new to this mtb thing. Is the Gary Fisher any good? Could I get better bang for my buck on a different brand. I don't know the price yet, but my lbs reckon that once I have ridden the bike I will love the price!

I am riding the 24 hour at Northern Farms at the beginning of December and that is where I want to christen my new baby!

LOL I'm sure you'll be fine on a dualy, it's much easier with cleats though !! And what's this about a Cycle Fair in Modderfontein huh huh !! Will I get an invite ?

Ok MichaelH, have now read the flyer about Sunday from Johnsons when I dropped my sons bike off there. Got given it but never read it there and then as I wasn't feeling great [cold, sore throat etc]. Should be a good morning though. See you there !!

Is it the Gary Fisher Hi-Fi....?

My LBS says they will have the full range of 2008 Gary Fisher bikes for me to try out (plus minus 8 different models) at the Cycle Fair, including  a 29er (?)  and a carbon Hi Fi (?). Its all Greek to me. What should I look at first?Confused

A friend of mine just got the 29er Hi Fi. He tried the stock 26er Hi Fi with 5 inches travel(which he had on order) but said that the 29er with 4inches felt better over the rough stuff. Along with that there are the other 29er pros such as more momentum, bigger tyre contact patch, easier rolling over obstacles and more comfort among others.

The 29er will not handle as well as a 26er, granted the difference is marginal.

I have tried both 26er and 29er versions of the Titus Racer X and just didn't like the feel of the 29er.

Best to just try both and see.....great to finally see some companies offering demo bikes!
