Isn't that a runner's injury?

I mean cause I well remember the cracking noise of the patella clunking back into the femoral groove.

I'd suggest what worked for me, which was to stop running, concentrate on building the quads via a sport that doesn't induce the symptoms. Will get the patella tracking straight once the muscles are strong enough.

If cycling caused the symptoms, get a proper bike setup. No need to spend a fortune on a BG or anything, just get it done right.

Runners and cyclists, but more runners get it. My problem is that my left leg is much weaker than my right leg because of 3 knee operations, but I am working on my left leg, but my right leg just worked to hard to compensate.

Thanks TNT1. The first time I felt it was when my cycling shoes adjusted themselves and I did not notice it and after 25km I started feeling it. I stopped for two weeks and after 6 weeks it still is not completly gone.

Hi

Injured my right knee in friendly touch-rugby game 2 months before IronMan and could only cycle and swim for a few weeks but when my right knee felt good, I started running again amd I went too far too soon and had the worst pain on the bottom of my knee cap on my "LEFT" knee. I went and saw a Sports Doc and Physio and they both said I had "Patella femoral syndrome" due too over-compensation for my "injured right knee" which was now fine.

I iced it after every run and then finally for IronMan, the Sports Doc taped it up and I didn't feel anything during IM. I hurt a lot the next day......

I took a break from running since IM and have done very little cycling. Started running about 2 weeks ago (nothing longer than 10K) and knee is 100%

The Doc, Physio and other medical articles I got online all say the same thing:

RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.

Aparently in most cases the knee will heal after proper rest.... Mine did!!!

Firstly have u been diagnosed by a dr? If not make sure could also be tendinitis.Go to a Biokineticist for your rehab. Then make sure u do your rehab, some of those exercises are very gay and u think what the hell but do it and u will be amazed. The thing they look at apart from the rehab is to get your leg strength within 12-15% of each other otherwise you will always have issues. Good Luck!

Yip. That's what caused my issues. After learning how to walk again, my right leg as at about 20-30% of the left leg. Nearly three years on, and I'm now at 90%.

I did go to a sports physician at the university's sports institute and he diagnosed it has patella femoral syndrome. My left leg was weaker than my right by 20 percent but it is getting close to normal.

I say, get a proper setup, stop riding for a while, and do the exercises in the link I posted, or ones the physio suggests.
