Recently bought a single speed from Hairy. The transport that was arranged to bring to Joburg as hand luggage will unfortunately take a little longer than expected.

Does anyone have any recommendations on couriers to courier the bike?

Any estimates of cost?

Thanks.

I sent a roadbike to JHB from CT for R350 odd with DCB logistics. Cycle Lab packed it safely in a box for me at no charge and DCB did a door to door delivery. Every other quote I got was R800+...

I've sent one with CourierIt - about R500 for overnight delivery I think. I got a free box from Crown Cycles, some bublewrap from the office, and everything fitted after jiggling the wheels around a bit.

Just find a box for it so you have the dimensions and the total weight and then phone around for quotes... They won't give away anything without those details. The price is more likely to be based on the size than the actual weight so you can estimate the weight.

Time Freight - Best road freight for heavier items to use in my book (5kg up).

Post Office - Most reliable and cheapest for small items.

RAM - Good, fast, but pricey.

BigFoot - Very unrealiable, damage goods, slow.

Dawn Wing - Good.

Noble Freight - Average, cheap but slow.

Collected from Hairy (CT) on Wednesday and delivered to my office on Monday morning. Would have been Saturday but I took the day off.

Hairy did a great job of packing the bike.
