I have a bad case of CTL and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good specialist, so that I can get it sorted out. I am going to a see a hand and plastic surgeon on Monday (Dr. Roger Nicholsan) but would like some recommendations from other cyclists that have had the op?

just listen to Regard and go to an orthopeadic surgeon. I went to a general surgeon for varicose vein removal instead of going to a vascular surgeon. Scarred for life

Good luck with the op and recovery anyways

I saw a couple of guys was set for the op.

Went to meet Dr Freed (the surgeon who was going to do op) and he checked me out again and said I actually didn't need the op !!

Got some diff grips and bar ends on the bike and cant believe the diff so glad I didn't end up having the op.

Dr Neil M Freed

011 794 8629 or 011 837 9986

He works out of Garden City and Wilgeheuwel Hospitals

It's nice to have advice from a Orth surgeon who is not just in it for the op and the money

Is CTP not an over use injury? Surely modified behaviour, corrective / strengthening exercises should be the first option, not the/a knife?

Yip, hand doc was recommended by another doc. Havent cycled in over 12months so not sure why its so bad. Just moved house and had a baby, when ever i hold him, my fingers start going dead.

Thanks for the info everyone!!!

sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel. I had it 2 years ago and its a proper pain in the arse.

I used Dr Andrew Barrow from Sunninghill Hospital - lekker oke and a bot of a sports nut! Im all sorted now

You can also go see Dr Snickers at Millpark, he is a neuro surgeon but he is a family friend and also does the carpal tunnel operations

Good luck mate, me with you

I take it a neuro surgeon would lobotomise a part of the brain so that you don't feel the pain??

Sorry - couldn't resist.
