When I started cycling I drank loads of juice when I rode - 2 years later I am doing 3 hours on a 750ml bottle (on road that is). Learn to take sips ever 15min, anything more is wasted as you body only absorbs a certain amount of fluids every so often.

I do this all the time. Even for races as short as 100k. When you're finished the bottle on your downtube, simply swap it with the one in your shirt, or chuck it somewhere it will be found and re-used. That way you only have the discomfort for the first hour or so.

That's what free bottles are for. Look like a Pro and discard it irresponsibly at the tjop chirping you about doping, while he is standing next to his skottel..

Find a old power aid or energade bottle put that in your jersey, drink it first and at the first water point throw it down there, they always have dirt bins there someone will throw it away for you.
