Slowbee, thanks a mil for this valuable info. Will be putting it to the test on 25 Sept in Uniondale thumbup1.gif I'm just gonna take it easy, but with the other 4 guys I'm cycling with it's not going to be easy as they are fitter than I am. I guess I'm hoping for a 6hr ride down to Knysna if i can make it in 6 hours that is....

Nick...don't worry bud...I'm also prepping for a 5hr+ ride...and my mates are all faster than i am!! We will keep each other company?

good advice from Slowbee...i'm riding on my average km rate (~15km/h...nothing else

Hijack on!

Understanding that the Argus is a different ride on different equipment - how much harder is K2C? It’s all on jeep track with easier gearing.

Hijack off!

NickGT, Cassie and Slowbee, this is a shameless Hijack from my side. I'm aiming for between 5 and 6 hours for my first k2C Think that way one will be able still enjoy it. As Slowbee said at 50km check how you're feeling and then go for it. I was thinkking of riding within myself for 65-70km and then put the hammer down. Dunno.

Then as in Comrades we should arrange and set-up a 5-6hour "bus" and ride together if possible. Thought that myself and training partner would start together, but somehow I was allocated to Group C and he to Group E. Dunno if we'll find each other.

Darm, in 5 weeks and two days we'll be driving down!

On the day I entered I saw something about me in Cat C. Dunno how they allocate the entries.

How is your training going for K2C. Doing any looooong rides? We are planning on doing 100km on the 11th of Sept. Hope that's the right thing

Um, I'm not sure I'm qualified enough to justify an answer, but I spoke to 1 of the guys here at work who rode the Cape Epic and he said that I should not be doing any long rides 1-2 weeks before the event. His advice was to train hard and then a week before the event ...to do absolutely nothing ! I rode a 50km 2 days ago and felt good after as I didn't push myself too much. I'm just going to do a 60-70km as a last training ride and then chill till the event and the take it real easy on the day for the 1st 50km and finish strong - hope this helps
