Nettie R Posted October 13, 2011 Share The neutral zone is SUPPOSED to spread th field out.. In the neutral zone the lead vehicle is SUPPOSED to keep an even pace,Not really. Neutral zones are to get riders past dangerous areas, in town, traffic intersections, bottle necks, etc until it's safe to race.The lead vehicle drivers need to catch a wakey. He sets the pace, it not his race to see if he can beat the bikes to the end of the zone. Joe Low Posted October 13, 2011 Share Why is there a neutral zone .Racing is racing .I don't see the F1 cars start in a neutral zone You want a neutral zone where the start is narrow and winding or otherwise hazardous. It helps improve safety and fairness. The Carousel springs to mind where you come out of a car park onto the road over speed bumps and through an arch. Its logical to start racing once you reach the road, but it doesnt work that way, unless there is a lead car to control things. The F1 comparison was amusing.
