going riding in 40 min, and i cant get my front wheel off, first time i've had to replace tube.

its got a 20mm maxle on a Pike 140mm shock.

do i have to remove the disc brakes to get my wheel off?

or am i missing some trick here?

Thanks

i feel rather stupid asking that

hmmm i think it needs grease, i think its not sliding out how it should

"open" the lever like you would with a quick release

fold the lever over "backwards" into the slot in the "cup" it sits in

unscrew until totally unscrewed

pull out

like so:

hope you managed to get it done before your ride :P

PS that's for the newer maxle system. not sure how the pike works.

If it's the older type 20mm thru axle, then you're going to have to get your allen keys out and loosen the bolts manually, like you used to do with your BMX back in the day. There's a solid axle that runs through the hub, and the older ones have bolts that secure them to the fork.

And yes, they are a beeeeyatch to get out if they're not greased!

yeah got it sorted. a hammer fixes everything, needed some lube, another thing that works wonders when it comes to shafts in tight holes.

clearly hadnt been greased in a while
