I really am anticipating the ride reviews of these bikes!

A well speced bike at a great price is one thing, but I would rather ride an ok specced GOOD/EXCELLENT handling bike instead .... even if it might cost a little more.

Actually been riding the A10, and can definitely tell you there is absolutely nothing wrong with the handling. ;)

Robbie Powell's done a great job with the geometry. End of the day, with more bikes like this, it's a win win giving the sport a lot accessibility :)

Enough with the A10's, those are all R11K+ ! :P

Got some more info on the axis A60 frame from the Frame Designer and Product manager himself! They have a 5 year warranty and:

"...the bike in question was designed to actually be used as a mountain bike and can handle racing and normal riding.

Let me know if you purchase the bike and how you are enjoying it."

There! So now that the Frames issue is sorted, all thats left is for me to physically feel the weight of the two bikes (Silverback Stride 10 and Axis A60) and weigh up the option of which spec makes the most difference:

AXIS: Shimano SLX on rear derailleur, BUT Suntour XCM w/Remote Lockout

SILVERBACK: Shimano M310(which groupset is this?), and has Suntour XCR MLO (which should be better than the XCM, but is the remote lockout on the Axis a game changer?)

EDIT: Silverback uses the Shimano Altus M310 Rear Derailleur. Axis uses SLX!

C'mon guys and girls, what's the verdict?

How is Raleigh related to the Axis brand? From the RaleighUSA site, I cant find any Axis bike that looks remotely similar :/

The company that brings in Raleigh into SA, brings in Axis. Make no mistake, Axis is probably no different than 25 other "blank" alloy frames out of Taiwan/China, just with a chosen spec on it. Their advantage is the price they are selling them for. Personally I think the whole reason for Probike inventing the Axis range is to dent Monsen's sales....

Raleigh SA no longer forms part of Probike. There were talks that RaleighUK would come to SA which are very nice bikes. Axis is a secondary brand to Scott just like Raleigh was. The Axis frame looks identical to the RC6000 carbon or RC Carbons of 2010

Yes Axis has nothing to do Raleight just as Probike has nothing to do with Raleigh. You will find that bikeshops that stocked Raleigh are selling their old stock Raleigh's at rock bottom prices you can get a RC6000 carbon full 105 for under R10k and a RC7000 ultegra for under R14k

Well the great thing about using 'blank' frames from a catalogue is that whoever sets up a new brand can spec geometry changes and and engineering on a frame.

Yet to see one identical to mine.

Bikes don't ride themselves mate (well some think 29r's or even 27.5r's do ;) )! Good job.

The team riding the Axis bikes for Anton Hamrl at the Epic have reported not a single mechanical issue with both bikes, only a puncture and valve issue actually. Not bad for a "cheap" bike.

The same quality that Raleigh produced is exactly the same quality to expect from the Axis brand because Axis is just a rebranded Raleigh exact same geometry
