Hey All

I'm on the verge of buying a Merida MATTS TFS 500 2012 model

From what I've heard it's a very good bike under the 10K price bracket.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't be buying it?

Thanx

Why not go for the TFS 900 D, better specs and not much difference in price ? - also just under the R10k price

Nothing wrong with buying a Merida, and R6.5K is a good deal for a good bike!

Thanx for the feedback, appreciated

TFS 900 should go for about R9500 full SLX with some XT, remote lock out front shock etc

Thanx for the feedback, not really prepared to fork out another 3K, I've heard good things about the 500 so leaning more towards that one. Will see what Bridge Cycles offers for the 900

After reading your thread I just took a peek at a few sites to check the specs of this bike and found it interesting that a few of them listed different components for the exact same model of bike.

Cyclelab showed the MERIDA MATTS TFS 500 (2012)to have an SR Suntour XCR-RL 100 fork while elsewhere it was shown to have ROCKSHOX XC30 POPLOCK 100.

I am a noob but I thought the one shock was superior to the other.

I did some proper homework a couple of years ago to buy my first mtb after doing quite a bit of road riding. The TFS 500 was the best value for money at that stage for what I needed. The price seems good. I will also get prices from King’s Cycles in Worcester, they have very good deals.

Best of luck !!
