Jailbreak. Do you think it will be wetsuit legal?

Hiya

Congrats to those that completed Die Burger. Was HOT of note. Moderately happy with my 3:28.

Despite I can comfortably swim 2.5Ks at Virgins pool. Little embarrassing, but I still feel I lack open water confidence.

Weathersa says, sundays temperature will be 24 degrees. Anything think this coming Jailbreak will be wetsuit legal?

No wetsuits if the water is above 23 degrees. Probably unlikely, it's a fairly large dam so the water should be 20-21. Note that this is for the proper race, the mickey mouse race is no wetsuits above 20 degrees.

Gripen hopes for a wetsuit legal race as he can then hide his polly-otter underneath it. He swims like a brick without it.

Doubt that it iwll be wetsuit legal. also depends on which race you do. Short one 20 degrees, long one 22 degrees. We just made it for BSG and it's been hot the last couple of days.

And it turned out I was one of the very few ppl without a wetsuit at it! After ordering it 2 weeks ago, it looks like it will be delivered tomorrow! Just in time to not use it for the race I bought it for... And I know how many ppl wore them because I got to watch almost every single one of them swim past me! Other than a horrible swim, what an awesome race for my first ever triathlon!

Im sorry for your bad luck and experience. I know how it feels about a terrible swim. Dont let it get to you, just keep working at it.

If i may ask what suit did you order?

I was advised to try Coral in Salt River. But then the woman I spoke to informed me that they had a manufacturing time of 7 to 11 days. I was not happy with that.

Another friend, then suggested I try Fluidlines in Somerset West.

With out blinking, I took time off work, and I made sure I got my suit. And I was happy too, cause the gentleman that sold me the suit was most informative and really helpful.

Judging from the other thread on thehub.co.za about wetsuits, apparently we should not use it as a device or means to feel comfortable in the water. Either way I was happy with my buy and use of the suit.

Will you be trying Ironman 70.3 to use your suit? (Else maybe look at Eleven for your next Tri event)

Good race yes. Wind did blow out the markers though. We've taken the average of a couple of GPS readings and give some way to swimming straight, but the swim seems to have been closer to 1.4km. The water was rough and I was very glad to be in a wetsuit!

By the way, Kent Horner came past me (read flew past me) and then a couple of minutes later he was behind me again. They sent him on a 10km detour. His words to me: "Don't worry, I'll catch them". Won the event from Jean van Wyk (probably the most promising triathlete - watch him at 70.3!
