Planet X 50mm carbon / Alloy Clinchers

Hi guys,

 

just got a mail form Planet X and it seems they have 50mm carbons with an alloy track going on special for £399. Just wondering if anyone had used these or had thoughts in general about the Planet x products. Never had 50mm and never bought X before.

 

They are about the 1800g mark.

Planet X stuff ROCK!! they choose their suppliers well. i find some carbon clinchers and tyre types a NIGHTMARE to seat or get the beading over which in turn will casue you an eternity next to the road when getting a puncture during the ride

Great price. But just know that the courier company used by Planet X UK is not in the same league as CRC. Stuff can take a long time to get here, and you face a greater risk of it not arriving at all. Might be worth asking them if you can upgrade the courier.

 

I have no personal experience with the above wheels, and, considering how new they are, I doubt anyone else on this forum has either. That said, I've ridden lots of Planet X stuff and I have yet to be disappointed.

I've head good things but @ 1800g not sure if they are good for road races. Might look back at Shimano C24's or C35s.

Why don't you check with the local Planet X agent?

I agree. Let the agent bring it in rather than risking courier mishaps and customs red tape.

Thanks for the advice. I've actually got a friend coming back from the UK who is going to bring me some kit I've ordered out of the US and UK so thought I'd get her to bring some wheels over as well.

 

I've pretty much managed to narrow it down to Shimano RS80's Carbon / Alloy mix or the planet x 54s now have to make a decision and order! Can get the Rs80's £300 or the X's for £399.
