KwaZulu-Natal Cycling, in conjunction with Cycling South Africa's Recreational Commission, is pleased to announce that a Tandem category has been opened up for the upcoming Vets, Masters and Schools SA Road and Time Trial Champs from 22nd to 25th March 2012, in Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal Cycling also welcomes Crusader Logistics (www.crusaderlogistics.co.za) as a sponsor for the event, which will be timed by Mr Price timing.

The tandem events will be hosted on the following basis, after consultation with both the Recreational Commission and Transformation and Development commission:

1. Tandems can either be mixed or male Minimum 5 entries per

2. Tandem category to make an official race (that is 5 mixed and 5 men)

3. Minimum age per rider 16 years old

4. Minimum combined age of 34 years

5. Elite/U23 and Junior full licensed riders who entered/competed in the 2012 Elite/U23 and JNR Road Champs, or who form part of a continental team, pro-continental team and/or pro-tour team are prohibited from entering the tandem event or the Vets, Masters and Schools Road Championships

6. Riders over the age of 30 who normally compete in the Elite category or competed in the SA Elite Road Champs are also prohibited from entering the Vets and Masters Championships (and the tandem event), by virtue of their licence choice

7. Distance = 98kms for road race and 34km's for Time Trial

8. Tandems will do the Time Trial on Friday afternoon, after the schools racing (to allow those vets who want to do both categories the opportunity to do so), and the Tandem road race will be on the Sunday after the road race

9. Entry fee of R300 per event

It is important to note that all entries are done on the Cycling SA website, http://csams.cycling...r-an-event.aspx, and entries for the event close on the 08th March 2012. No late entries will be accepted.
