Prosecutors close Lance Armstrong inquiry with no charges

Go Lance

In January 2011,

Sports Illustrated published a story containing allegations that Armstrong used performance-enhancing drugs. Knowing that USADA announced it was investigating him and his sport the previous May, he took to Twitter:

"Great to hear that USADA is investigating some of SI's claims. I look forward to being vindicated."

If Armstrong is so vigorously supportive of USADA's work, we should be, too.

He was also supportive of a certain French lab, until…

If you read carefully what is said in the articles not a single refrence goes towards Lance actually dopeing (I think history has proven that nobody can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did or did not) that by default in the US legal system makes it inadmissable.

Every refrence in this article and many like it is about trying to nail the Team, Management, and sponsors with the use and distrobution of illegal substances rather than the actual consumption of the substances by atheletes and the fall out expected from that. Its common knowledge that Lance's teammates have been doping throughout the ages, so nothing new there.

Question is can they pin it on him as part team owner? Maybe and maybe not, but in the end it still does not resolve any of the grey mist around the doping allegations against himself.

You reckon he's calling their bluff as he knows he can bribe/sue/threaten WADA/USADA into making it go away. Is WADA/USADA really that limited in resources or ethics that they they will allow themselves to be corrupted or intimidated. During the Feds inquiry everyone was stating there was no way they could be bribed and intimidated. Then when the case is dropped they make this claim.

I don't buy the suggestion that he bought his way out of this.

She's lashing out. It's understandable. As I posted earlier, her testimony at the bonus deposition, I believe, is damning of Lance.

"The federal investigation into the Lance Armstrong case lasted for nearly two years with numerous “reports” of eye witness testimony “proving” Lance Armstrong used prohibited substances during his career. In addition, various other information unearthed by leaks, interviews and the press pushed the court of public opinion further against Lance for many people"

Other than her claim to have overheard LA admit to doping (and why should she lie ??) , what evidence was damning.

Scotty, are you seriously asking for a list of all the evidence?

Odd that. Lance has been criticized for hiring the best legal minds. Could that not also be understandable in light of what he has to lose if found a doper, more so if he is innocent ??

Only what she heard in the hospital. The rest would be 2nd hand what Frankie told her.

I see not really damning then is it (but why should she lie.)

Personally I find it very damning, based on there being no reason for her to lie. Also based on Stephanie McIlvain's behavior after the fact. I get the impression Betsy is a tenacious, principled woman who doesn't like bullies.

Sounds like a principled woman, accusing the Feds of being intimidated or corrupt.
