3:18:37 so we must have been close to each other. No idea where we finished relative to the group.

I was on the blue & white old Look bike in Mr Price kit - I am not sure where the rest of the group was - I got in late to the start batch so not sure if a group went off the front.

Ok, I was in specialized kit on a Scott. Let's see tomorrow who got away, I also started towards the back.

I remember you - we had a small group that worked well together - the chap on the bianchi thought a group of about 15 got away in front of us - as you say we will see tomorrow. The heat got to me bit.

I thought I was reasonably early (by my standards) but still found myself literally right at the back in the start chute of K. LOL

Terrible to still be on Hertzog Boulevard while the front end of the group is half way up Eastern Boulevard. LOL

I tried hard to work my way through the masses to try and get as close to the front as possible before hospital bend, but it's an impossible task.

So I missed the split and rode in the second group for most of the way.

Speeds between Wynberg Hill/Lakeside and Smitswinkel/Noordhoek were generally down from what I was anticipating.

Ended up riding 3:29. :)

My brother was in K did a 3:20!

I haven't checked results, but I suspect that if you managed to be at the front of K to start, then you possibly would have ridden anywhere between 3:10 and 3:25.

I would say that next I'm, going to be at the front of my chute, but history suggests that isn't going to happen. LOL

Clay, you must have been close to us. 3:31 on the tandem.

Azonic, I was on a black and white Felt (F4) and was wearing black, white and red UCS/Business Connexion kit.

Clay, pretty difficult to remember single riders. After Suikerbossie we FLEW. I wouldn't be surprised if we caught a few hundred people. The tandem carries so much momentum... One single bike rider hooked in behind us down Suikerbossie and we dragged him all the way to the finish. No other rider or group of riders could pick their pace up enough to hook on. We wore white shirts, on a black and blue Raleigh tandem.

We were in the top 10 of the K group from the Start, but had to stop for a mechanical about 2-3km into the race and so lost the head of the K bunch. Brake blocks were rubbing the back wheel. That's what you get for changing stuff on your bike the day before and not testing it. We reeled allot of guys back in but think the split happened without us. Bugger.

I only remember one tandem and all I remember is that it was red... Like you say it's not easy remembering everything around you when your main priority is to stay upright!!

I gave it everything I had left (which wasn't much) after Suikerbossie, managed to hook onto a few guys from L for a while but got dropped on the little climb coming out of Camps bay, then hooked onto a few more guys after that and we worked quite nicely to the finish.

Next year, my goal will be 3:15 (weather permitting and no jolling on the Friday night  )
