The first 5km of the route always kills me. Will try a warm-up this time around.

The start time of the 94km is at 6:05am. I was late for two years in a row. So a friendly suggestion - leave 30mins earlier than you planned.

Looks like there will be a gusty 20km/h SE blowing according to WindGuru.

I got a puncture about 2Km in last year (down the long section heading back to Wellington town) - was trying to make a break and catch the group ahead of us. New tube and back on the bike in 4 min (according to my garmin) and caught my bunch at the foot of Champagne Street (last long climb) towards the finish.

It looks bl**dy ominous lying in front of you as you approach it! And beware, you actually start climbing gently from the moment your cross the river...

I think this is the main reason why some people battle with Bothma's ... it's trying to maintain high speed up the long drag that actually kills the legs, leaving very little left for the actual climb.

league ride so there'll be a few of us there, although this shoulder of mine is taking a while to recover after last week's crash... will have to see.

hope you recover soon man, enjoy the race

thanks Tiny, you riding tomorrow?

Nah, I am going to see you guys off and then go back home

Saving my energy for Bay CIty on Sunday - was convinced by 'Dale to rather ride that one because it goes along the Argus route - more practice for two weekends time (and no, I am not hardcore enough to ride both at max effort)

Why NOT?

Why NOT?

I thought my statement was self explanatory......

Edit: now that I re-read your post in conjunction with mine - I could/would if the budget had allowed.

Ah lekker race vir 'n slag, 1ste keer dat ek by bunch kon bly na my besering!

Mooi man! Ja, today was a nice race to do without too many climbing. Wat het jy aan jouself gedoen? (om beseer te wees).

Het my kuit 'n week voor DC beseer en toe die DC gedoen(span kon nie 'n replacement kry nie). . . .was uit tot 20 Jan!

EINA! Ek onthou dat jy wou uit trek maar jou span het jou oortuig om te ry...... not very clever in retrospect hey.

Goed om te hoor dat jy nou reg is. Daar is baie ouens wat nie 100% herstel van beserings nie.
