ridden it on tuesday morning, looks great, nicely cut open all of the grass and more, in my opinion its much safer than cycling next to the road and normal places, the best climbs you will get in pta(the mtb climb) and some awesome singletrack that is not too demanding. and best of all its free! just park at groenkloof spar . . .

I've ridden it on Wednesday after work. Seems save. A lot other cyclists and runners on the road while I went through there. Even a few ladies walking beside the road by themselves...

I also love to train at Klapperkop, and think it's great for hill repeats.

Unfortunately I heard very bad news of an incident of other cyclist friends of mine that came upon a crime scene in Klapperkop.

Heard about a guy who's throat was slit whilst being in his car, tried to get away, but drove into the rock wall on the left towards the R21 and died on the scene.

Not much more info, but I spoke to the people that found him in is car along the road.

Very tragic.

As far as what I was told there is people living inside the reservation that did this crime, stealing wallet ect.

And also that these cyclists warned me not to ride the MTB tracks around Klapperkop.

I do not have allot of information regarding what I was told.

I was gun point jumped a few years back at KK, but I still train every tues and thursday morning,no hassles at all, there are security guards and parks board do their rounds too! The best place to park is way up just as the houses start at the SANDF Intel HQ..... As for the murder last week,it seems that the guy in the car had the attacker in there with him....

Never had issues on the klapperkop road itself, there has always been police present there when I was riding, sometimes even 2 vehicles.

That can be good or bad depending how you view it....

Only ran the trails once before but would be hesitant to do it again. I really think they need to link this with Groenkloof, Voortrekker Monument and Fountains or something like that so it's fenced with security and requires paid entry to make it more secure.

I ride there regularly. Most of times there are many cyclists, runners and even walkers with dogs. Most people stick to the tar but I find the single-track routes quite nice. It is now totally fenced in and I have not seen any signs of sleepers anywhere. I saw last week that they have errected a big electric fence between the golf club and cc.

I recommend the following route to beginners - as you come in from the east, turn sharp left immediately and stick to the fence, eventually you will get to the bottom gate. I've seen Blouwildebeest, Zebra and Impala on this route regularly.

The more people using the single track the saffer it is going to be!
