This puts us right back to the question, where must the organizers find the place to slot in the increased albeit smaller batches. Limit the entry down from 35000 ?, have the back end'rs start later ? Have riders qualify to enter (Comrades and 2 oceans) ?

My vote is with later start times, I cantsee the big issue, if you start at 10, 11 or 12 you still going to be in midday heat and as long as you have daylight in which to finish, what is the issue. The start spread over an extra 2 hours would make a massive difference to safety, less crowding at water points, far less bunching etc etc etc

And organisers have got to get seeding right, I was seeded in UU, despite having done a few seeding rides. I must of passed just about every corporate and charity rider to sukkel my way through for a decent finish. How do you have guys doing sub 3 and a half hours seeded with others doing 6 hrs??
