Fitting a Sram GXP crank in BB30 frame

What options do i have to fit a Sram 2 x 10 X9 GXP crank in a BB30 frame?

I know there are adaptors available, but which are readily available in SA and has anyone had good or bad experiences with these?

Other option is to sell my GXP crank and fit a new BB30 one?

Anyone been in this dilemmer before?

Dangle, I hope you right. I pulled up some crank / BB specs off the sram site and all i could see is "Pressfit GXP BB", but the BB shell in the frame needs to be 41mm dia.. BB30 shell is 46mm dia. So prehaps "Pressfit 30 GXP " is another one?

Ya, it seems there is an adaptor that the standard GXP BB threads into.

Maybe a new crank is the expensive, buy right way to do this?

I must be very honest, but yes BB 30 crank is really a clear cut solution, expensive, but in the long run worth it.

How old is the crank you have ?

Just to throw a hammer amongst the ostriches I heard a rumour that the Pressfit BB30 bearings don't last too long. The GXP ones seem better....

problem solved... I just measured the bb shell and it's a press fit 30..which means a press fit GXP Bb goes straight in..

that's interesting, cause the SRAM website seems to think the press fit bearings are far better protected from contamination and last better?

I hear you, my LBS just said they'd had more bearing "issues" with the Pressfit BB30 than with the GXP. Seems you sorted anyway.

  • 2 months later...

Help me out here quick - same question, however my BB shell is 46mm diameter and 73mm width.

The GXP pressfit BB is about 42mm diameter.

What is the adaptor called that Im looking for and where to fnd it?

Do I just have shims/spacers machined?

What are the options?
