asked the same question last year, Not all the guys are full time cyclist like the elite guys, here is a question did lynette Burger not partake in the Sa elite champs

But surely if you are racing for a pro team you in essence are pro?? They must be paid something?

So then if you race in the vets you can only wear your jersey. If you race with elite woman you cannot wear your colours?? So you're SA champ in 30+ but not allowed to wear SA colours as you race every other race in elite??

I see Lynette didn't race in the elite SA's but is she with a pro team this year still? Maybe she'll be racing in the vets....bwahahahaha. Can't see that happening.

Amazing what some people will do to get a podium  :whistling:

what surprised me was to see Kevin Evans, Sauser et al lumped into VA at the Argust.

As if those guys give a toss about the VA podium. Whoever organised the racing bunches this year was smoking some good ****.

If the pros what to ride sub vets or vets champs you have to let them. Otherwise it's just SA amateur champs. If you want amateur champs then that would need to be a separate event.

In nearly all cases active pro riders will not turn up at an age-category champs. It just makes them look like sandbaggers - that's if they win - if they don't it makes them look unemployable :P

It'll give some of them a chance at age group World Champs. If you race Elite nationals, you can't enter age group Worlds, as I understand it.

I'm not saying I want an amateur race, I have no problem with it personally but I think if you race pro you should do pro SA's and visa versa.

Otherwise as you say, you look like a twat no matter what the outcome.

Now that makes sense to me :).

I'm glad they're rich enough to get to world camps, can't see cycling SA helping out.

Nic White is racing vets. So you have guys working 50 hrs a weeks racing against guys at the tail end of a pro career. Doesn't sound fair to me.

Racing isn't fair. You should try be in the ladies vets races and see how unfair it is because you don't have a commissair watching cheats :whistling:
