Hi Scottondale and Herman

It's not a SAS event but each rider will be presented with a number board, timing will be managed by Spectrum Sport but if there are too many riders then we will manage the seeding

When we phoned to hear about late entries, you didn't say anything about a penalty.

Race organisation 101: get the distances right. 80km ended up in 92km. :-(

I do understand that they had to get distance in the reserve, but a freshly cut 'track' that zig zags for 5km+ within a 1sq km area, was not fun. Was on a ds and my back took a pounding.

I agree, I measured 45.1 on the 40km track.

Also, have to question the lengthy section on thick sand. All it caused was a lengthy bottleneck and added little to the race, IMO.

Having said that, a really fun morning, and a race I enjoyed.

Just got back from SANDELA, in a word CRAP !

Course was 10km of nice single track followed by 10km beachsand, then 10 km of windy, windy that was boring, unpleasant seemed put together by someone with little biking expierience and even less sence of direction. The last 10km track was secondary road, then do it all again !!!

The marshals were useless and had no idea where on the course they were. No distance markers to be seen anywhere.

All the marshals "dissapeared" at 2.00 oclock and there were still a number of riders on the course who were all left to their own devices to find the finish. Earlier in the day there were numerous cowboys on quads tearing up the course could not even one of them played sweep ?

Overall impression ? Not worth the entrance fee, or the drive out there.

AVOID this event, if youre not a racing snake. I won't go back and I'll make sure I tell all my riding buddies the same.

Advise to organisers, just a handfull of potential winners but lots more riders who arrive, pay and also want to be treated like they count.

I disagree about some of the comments - think it was an awesome event and route. No real climbs, so the sand only made it a bit challenging. And did I hear mountain bikers complaining about single track?

Yeah, you heard right. If the 80km top riders also complained about the 10 km zig zags, there must be something to it.

@ ASG,

1) Thanks for an awesome weekend. The even the fun stuff saturday was great - the wife and kids enjoyed it a lot. And yes, I realy liked the route and race. The extra 9km was a bit of a surprise, but at least known halfway so I had the whole 2nd lap to set my mind on it!

2) Where and when will the results be posted?

3) Who is the race photographers, where will the photos be available?

Thanks

"mountain bikers' seem to complain about everything these days! Too rough, too smooth, not enough, too much....!

How does a race organiser get the race distance wrong by more than 10% ???

And he gets it wrong on two events , twice in one day ???

This is unbelievable ,

How do you not measure your own route .....

Spoke to him afterwards - he checked out my gps stats. He said his gps measured it at 84km (my distance was 89.24)
