My problem with weight is that I must use a XL bike, so less than 10kg is just not for me .It will cost me an arm and a leg to get my bike under 10kg.I must train more to get faster. What size frames will you have at the shop on Saturday

I bought a Cube Acid 29er. I'm really happy with the bike. I had an issue with the front Rapid Ron tyre once I converted to tubeless. Changed it to a Conti X King and all's good. The back tyre never gave any problems. One of those things I guess.

Some Say, the standard Rockshox fork may be the weak link on the bike. I'm looking at upgrading the front fork.

My opinion, get the Cube, it's well worth it.

Hi Lexx,

No problem at all, I'll see what I can organise this evening.

doppelganger,

Hahaha, I'll keep that in mind once I've window shopped this weekend.

Hi Tazmanian, I'm still waiting for the Momsen Al329 pics you said you would send.

Hi Lexx,

I am so sorry for not sending pics yet.

The bike is in pieces and waiting for spares from the suppliers, as soon as I get it back (hopefully tomorrow) I will post a lot of photos.

Biggest worry is I have the Nissan Trailseeker race this weekend and the suppliers are battling to get parts for the rear hub.

Once again sorry for the delay.

Weight has gotten to be totally relative as far as im concerned i am use to a 10.2kg 26" dual sus, I now have a 12.8kg 29'er and paid a fortune for it, yes i could have gotten a much lighter 29'er for the same price, hell maybe even as low as 10.5kg-11kg.

On my heavier bike, ive never enjoyd riding more, Ive never been a better rider and I am shattering all my old times, and i am unfitter than I have ever been. Sometimes somwhere a bike comes along that just rides the way you want it, gives you what you need and does exactly what you expect it too.

In fact the 15k I have waiting around for upgrades have been lying around the bank account now for two months, I just simply dont see the need. The only time the weight penalty will get to me is if i have to do a epic, pioneer where there is a bit of "hike a bike" involved.

So no weight is not everything. I use to think it was, Now i realized i could have bought 40 year old whiskey instead of Titanium bolts and various other bits of carbon crap.

covie, what bike do you ride now?

Rocky mountain element 930, but with different brakes than the stock elixer 3's and a reba "trail specific" best damn bike ever :)

What time will you guys be there form Darryl?

I took the ELITE HPC SL 29er for a ride around Rietvlei. It is everything that I have avoided in a MTB, carbon frame, carbon seat post, flat bars, bar ends, racing geometry etc... But wow that is a serious Racing Rocket! It was an absolute pleasure to tear around the forest being chased by some guys on trail bikes. I was very impressed with the snappy ride and the Fox Kashima fork. It's such a damn pity that there are so few opportunities to test bikes in a real environment like this. Keep it up Darryl and Paul, thanks..
