Come ride the Jozi2Kozi Cycle Challenge – Joburg to Kozi Bay in 7 days!

Challenge yourself on the migration trail. Zulu warriors travelled from the flat pans & lakes of Kosi Bay in Northern Zululand through the wild game areas of Mkhuzi & iThala and over the escarpment to the mines and migrant worker hostels of Joburg - eJozi! We retrace this journey by mountain bike.

Join us on an amazing experiential mountain bike journey through South Africa. 7 days, 700km's but not just a cycle, an experience. Every day a unique piece of our country and every night a unique experience from rides through wild game reserves with armed escorts to the rocky picturesque footpaths cascading among Zulu villages!

The idea looks great and I can just image the great scenery but Sho, that is a lot of money for only 7days with not much included. Lunch is not even included and you get tended accommodation with portable loo. I am sure this event is aimed at the international market that wants to explore SA with R10 500 to spare but I don’t think it will get a big following from SA cyclist.

This is one of those events that you would rather tour on your own and save a couple of 1000

I really hope the event does great. As I said, the idea is really good

Grondpad the price is a lot cheaper than somemultiple day events, but more importantly you get a whole lot with that:

- Hot and cold showers & yes tent & mattress

- Full evening meal and breakfast plus no lunch but there are two to three water points depending on the distance with themed local snacks (vetkoek, koeksisters, eat sum mors etc) instead of lunch

- Full support - medical, sweep & pickups, transport of your bags to the next days event, water tables,

- Access to these game reserves - access and overnight fees. In fact you would never normally get access on a bike to these places.

- tog bag & top etc etc

So I think if you compare apples with apples you will find its reasonable. And no its not aimed at the overseas market its very much for us...and you come ride it

@Monanawe GG I agree ... the price is not that much for a 7 day ride inc food, support and accommodation - Thats the price you pay for some 5 day events.

@ Grondpad - good luck saving a few grand ... it not going to be easy lugging your own porta-loo and showers for 7 days for a small group!

It'll be a cracker boys - good work.

the race sounds fantastic, and hats off to the organisers for putting on such an epic event in such a rural part of KZN. Will definitely be booking leave for that week!
