Hi guys and girls

This past weekend i was told iv got Bursitis and ruptured fibers in my knee, is there anyone that had the same injury?

The doc told me I should rest for about 2 weeks before i touch a bicycle again, that sounds a bit short for quite a serious injury?

Please guys any advice will help, at the moment im very frustrated because i cycle around 14hours weekly and now nothing!

Thanks Regards!

Rather wait untill your knee is 100% again.

If you go out too soon you'lle just f it up more, i tore the ligaments in my left knee 2 years ago and skipped the propper rehab ( big mistake ) everytime it rains or i take a long run i want cry from the pain.

2 weeks without cycling wont kill you

More info? Where did you tear the fibres? Ligaments or tendon?

The 2 weeks off is probably more for the bursitis than the fibres... You should be able to start slowly after that - you need to figure out why you got it in the 1st place...

Just come back from achilles bursitis, 6 weeks, xtremely frustrating. Rest, anti-inflammatories, test it a little, repeat. You should know from walking if ur getting better, cycling was easier than walking but bottom line, take it easy.

Not ALL bursitis are overuse...

Could be related to impact, or septic (infective) in nature...

The 14h may not be a problem, but if you are going to do those hours pushing big gears with wrong bike setups and long crank arms it definately is a problem...

Anti-inflamatories are not always the answer...

Remember inflamation is simply the 1st step in healing and rcovery (after training and after injury).

If you cut that out with drugs, chances are the healing will be sub-optimal - predispossing you to repeated injury.
