So for the past couple of weeks I've been getting my stuff together to build a bike. Bought most of the stuffe second hand here on the Hub.

Took the bike to my LBS to build yesterday, cause I don't have the tools to do it myself.

The mechanic phones me just now and says the chain I bought together with the 2x10 X9 groupset is too short....

...is this possible?

I'm building a Niner, so I guess if the groupset came of a 26" bike it's probably possible right?

And if I buy a new chain, how do I know it won't be too short as well?

Thanks for any help...

Hey Dre,

Just run the chain - big front & big rear, bypassing the RD.

If it can connect - It should be long enough. I have a new 10 spd chain coming in this weekend, you can measure yours against that to see.

Ask your boet to give me a call if you need help

a new chain out the box will fit ( you will have to even shorten it )

the chain you supplied was probly shortened to fit the bike it came off .
