Johan, jou numbnut!

What can I say , ek het nog nooit Gators gehad nie , net GP`s - nout ek die 4000`s , hulle is great!!

Gators is bombproof!  Might need to get them though for al that climbing coming up (60g lighter PER tyre!)

I was fitting some new conti tyres to the tandem when I felt this slight indentation on the rim.

What could have caused this and is the rim still usable / repairable?

This is not a pavement scrape but a high spot on the wheel that was caused by hitting a cateye or similar. The shiny spot is then created as the brake block does more work there than elsewhere on the rim when you brake.

Perfectly usable, but it might irritate you with a pulsing sensation...perhaps I now pointed it out and it will only now start to irritate you...sorry

Dude it fine to ride that wheel. You may however want to go into your local bike shop and ask them if you could borrow a tool called a "Mavic Stone"

Use this stone one the rim section and sections around it and it will smooth braking and possible stop the squeek that is generated by the uneven braking surface.

Peace
