Ok my friend who rode the three passes with me has a polar and it showed we climbed 1000+-m.

my garmin showed we climbed 586 m . decent 378 ConfusedConfused

Is there a setting issue with the Garmin that it will only take certain gradients as climbing or what ??? It feels like we did a tad more than 586m what stats do you guys have for sunday 3 passes.

thanks

I'd trust the Garmin's total ascent because it calculates it's height above sea level via trianguation from the satellites it's receiving data from.

The Polar uses air pressure and that can vary during the day and your location.

Hagar,

Where did you take the Edge data from?  From Training Centre or from SportTracks?

I have found that these programs differ in respect of total climb.  I personally think Training Centre is a more realistic figure.
