Looks cool. One problem though. Say your car is stolen with the key in this safe. You will have a hard time with the insurance. You normally need to submit both sets of keys to claim from insurance.

What if a thief steals my car keys and then uses them to steal my car? Then I would not be able to hand in both sets. But I can see how having the spare keys in / on the car would give the insurance company a reason not to pay.

what if you go get a third key cut?? and use that..

At around R2500 to R4000 a key on some cars it simply isn't an option.

you can still get the key itself cut, do not have to get an original electronic key cut just the metal key bit itself and unlock the car manually ... if you cycling and loose the original you going to have to pay the same price anyways? well I do not drive a spaceship with 5k keys..

I have been using a surf lock for years.

 

I have confirmation in writing from my insurance that I am covered in the event that my car key is stolen out of the surf lock, and my car is stolen, while I am out surfing.

 

This one looks cool, you just need to have a compatible tow bar in order for it to fit.
